HFC '95 ends season 2nd in the Nation!

The HFC ’95 Shubert girls competed in the USYS National Championships in Phoenix, July 25-31.   Their fantastic season came to a dramatic end in the National Championship game against Sting ’95 from Dallas, with a disappointing 4-3 loss in overtime.  The girls advanced to the title game by beating the Dallas Texans 3-1 and the Scorpions 5-3.  The Championship game was thrilling and there were several different waves of momentum for both squads.  HFC scored first on a great header goal by Krissi Killion, but Sting quickly tied it at 1-1.  Again, HFC took the lead with a rocket shot from Jasmine Pascoe, but Sting again found the net to make it 2-2.  Anna Beffer made a brilliant play to cross the ball to Claire Kelley, who ripped it into the net, giving HFC a 3-2 lead.  This lead held until about a minute left in the game, when Sting, playing with a man advantage, made the equalizer to send it to OT.  Ultimately, Sting won the contest 4-3 in OT as they repeatedly survived the HFC attack and shots on goal.  The HFC ’95 squad is a special group of players and parents and we are all so proud of these girls for their successful season.  This team won their Regional League PLW, going undefeated against some very good teams.  In fact, at Nationals, the top 3 teams in the ’95 age group all hailed from this Region (Sting, HFC and Texans).  This team won the National League, again going undefeated.  This team also won the Region III Championships.  Even though the National Championship was lost, this has been a season to remember!  CONGRATULATIONS to all of the HFC ’95 players for this tremendous success and thanks to all of their coaches for their training and support.  Congratulations are also in order to Kaela Little for winning the Golden Glove Trophy for best goalie in the USYS National Championships and Elizabeth Keester for winning the Golden Ball Trophy for most goals/points in the USYS National Championships!  Great job ladies.
