Chris Mansfield is an Asst Men's Varsity coach at the University of Tulsa for over 5 years.
Mansfield played an integral role in helping the Golden Hurricane to its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance in 2004. TU's goalkeepers logged five shutouts and combined for a 1.47 GAA.
In his first season at Tulsa, the Golden Hurricane posted a second place finish in the Missouri Valley Conference and advanced to the second round of the 2003 NCAA Tournament. Under Mansfield guidance, goalkeepers Terry Boss and Justin Durst combined for five shutouts, 85 saves and a goals-against-average of 1.26.
Mansfield came to Tulsa after spending the 2001 season as an assistant coach at Southwest Missouri State.
Prior to SMS, he completed his soccer career as a four-year letterwinner at the University of New Mexico.
During his playing career, Mansfield was a two-time all-conference academic team goalkeeper and served as a team captain during his final season. As a scholar athlete, he received the University of New Mexico Coaches Award in 1999 and was a member of both the Blue Key Honor Society and Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. During his senior year, he received the UNM Alumni Association Citizenship Award and was a nominee for the Clauve Outstanding Senior Award.
A native of Springfield, Ill., Mansfield earned a double major with bachelor's degrees in both communication and political science in 2001.
He is a licensed United States Soccer Federation referee, and has served as the goalkeeper coach for Joe Machnik's No. 1 Soccer Camp since 1997 and has been the camp director for the past three years. Coach Mansfield also graduated with a law degree from The University of Tulsa law School in May, 2005. |
